About this place
A cold beer pairs naturally with thick-cut sashimi or fragrant grilled seafood, which are among the prime choices at Mangyōtei. The seafood lineup features plump, salt-grilled yellowtail collar rich in natural oils, grilled tilefish (guji) and sandfish, as well as seasonal tempura highlighting daggertooth pike conger (hamo) or Japanese whiting.
Beyond seafood, the izakaya shows its culinary range through an extensive roster of meats and robatayaki dishes. Skewers include yakitori seasoned with either savory tare sauce or salt, along with tender tsukune meatballs. Heartier offerings like chewy grilled beef small intestine (hoso), beef tripe (mino), and stamina-style offal provide deep, punchy flavors well suited to drinking. Small plates such as fluffy steamed potatoes tossed in butter and sake-steamed clams round out the offerings, giving guests the freedom to build their own spread.
Open from 17:00 in the evening until 24:00 at night, the setting accommodates casual get-togethers with friends as easily as relaxed drinks with larger groups. Guests can settle into the lively atmosphere typical of a neighborhood izakaya, lingering over drinks before winding down with a charred grilled rice ball or a bowl of soothing ochazuke.
